# Business to Business **(B2B)**

**Business to Business**, commonly abbreviated as B2B, is a business model in which
companies offer their products or services to other companies. In this model, both
the seller and the buyer act with a commercial purpose. B2B commerce can be seen
in many different areas, including raw material supply, wholesale product sales,
software services, consulting, logistics, manufacturing, maintenance, corporate
technology solutions and operational support. The main goal is to create commercial
value between businesses, manage supply processes and meet business needs.

The B2B business model is not limited to e-commerce; however, B2B e-commerce has
become much more widespread with digitalization. Many B2B processes that were traditionally
managed through phone calls, dealer networks, field sales teams, catalogs or face-
to-face meetings can now be handled through online platforms, corporate ordering
systems, supplier portals and marketplaces. This allows businesses to review products,
request quotes, place bulk orders, manage payment terms and make procurement processes
more measurable.

One of the most common examples of B2B commerce is raw material or intermediate
product supply. For example, a textile company producing jackets may purchase the
fabric it needs from another company. Similarly, a furniture manufacturer may work
with suppliers of wood, metal parts or accessories. In such relationships, purchasing
is usually not a small one-time transaction but an ongoing supply process.

The B2B model is also frequently used in service procurement. A company may receive
support from another company in areas where it does not have internal expertise
or where outsourcing is more efficient. For example, a newly established e-commerce
brand receiving SEO consulting, performance marketing, software development, accounting,
legal or logistics services is an example of a B2B relationship. In this case, what
is purchased is not a physical product, but a professional service that supports
the company’s operations.

The relationship between wholesalers and retailers is also a common example of the
B2B business model. A wholesaler sells products to retailers in certain quantities
or at agreed prices. The retailer then offers these products to end consumers. Market
chains, stores, restaurants or dealers purchasing products from manufacturers, distributors
or wholesalers can be given as examples of this structure. In this process, quantity,
delivery, price, payment terms and stock continuity are important decision factors.

A B2B business model can focus on a single sector or operate across multiple sectors.
For example, a B2B platform that sells only office supplies focuses on a specific
category, while a B2B marketplace offering products from different sectors to businesses
has a broader structure. Industrial products, medical supplies, software licenses,
packaging products, cleaning materials, spare parts, construction materials and
corporate services are some of the areas where B2B commerce can be seen.

There are important differences between B2B and B2C business models. In B2C, the
product or service is sold to the end consumer, while in B2B, the buyer usually
makes the decision on behalf of a business. For this reason, B2B purchasing processes
can be longer, more rational and involve more stakeholders. The purchasing department,
finance team, technical team, managers and end users may all be included in the
same decision process. This makes trust, expertise, references, pricing, contracts
and after-sales support more critical in B2B marketing and sales.

Pricing in B2B commerce is often more flexible than in B2C. Bulk purchase discounts,
custom offers, dealer prices, contract prices, deferred payments, annual agreements
or project-based pricing structures can be used. Therefore, showing a standard price
on B2B e-commerce websites may not always be enough. Some businesses work with customer-
specific price lists, prices visible only after login, quote request forms or corporate
account systems.

Digital B2B platforms can provide many advantages for businesses. They can speed
up purchasing processes, make supplier and product comparison easier, reduce operational
costs and make order management more organized. In addition, data such as inventory
tracking, invoicing processes, payment records, order history and customer segmentation
can be managed more easily in digital environments. This can create a more efficient
trade structure for both sellers and buyers.

However, opening an online sales channel alone is not enough for B2B e-commerce
success. Product information should be detailed, technical documents should be accessible,
stock and delivery information should be kept up to date, the pricing structure
should be clear and customer support should be built strongly. B2B customers usually
care not only about price, but also about quality, continuity, delivery reliability,
technical support and long-term business relationships.

In B2B marketing, SEO, content marketing, LinkedIn ads, Google Ads, email marketing,
industry events, webinars, reference studies and sales enablement content can be
used to reach the target audience. B2B buyers usually conduct research, compare
alternatives and look for reliable information before making a purchase decision.
For this reason, technical content, comparison pages, case studies, product documents
and industry guides play an important role in B2B marketing.

In summary, **B2B** is a commerce model in which businesses offer products, services
or solutions to other businesses. It can be applied in many different areas, from
raw material supply to software services and from wholesale sales to consulting.
With digitalization, B2B commerce has become faster, more measurable and more scalable.
However, a successful B2B structure requires reliable supply, proper pricing, strong
operations, clear communication, technical competence and long-term customer relationships
to be managed together.
