# Data Visualisation

**Data visualisation** is the practice of presenting information through charts,
maps, diagrams and other visual formats. It helps users understand complex datasets
and identify important relationships more quickly. When numerical information is
converted into a visual structure, trends, differences and unusual patterns may
become easier to recognise. However, the selected visual format must be appropriate
for both the data and the intended message.

Companies may use visualisation tools to present sales results, customer behaviour,
operational performance and financial indicators. Presentations, reports and **interactive
dashboards** can communicate information more clearly to employees and managers.
Changes that may be difficult to identify within long tables or blocks of text can
become more visible through charts. This allows decision-makers to evaluate important
indicators more efficiently.

Data visualisation supports analysis, but it does not guarantee correct interpretation
on its own. Inappropriate chart types, misleading scales or missing context may
lead users to inaccurate conclusions. Titles, axes, data sources and measurement
units should therefore be presented clearly. The purpose of visualisation should
be to communicate reliable information rather than simply make the data appear more
attractive.

**Colour usage** should be planned carefully within an effective visualisation.
Colours may distinguish categories, highlight important values or indicate increases
and decreases. However, excessive use of colours, icons and decorative elements
can make a chart difficult to read. The design should remain simple, unnecessary
details should be removed and the main message should be immediately visible.

Bar charts, line charts, scatter plots, maps, tables and infographics are common
examples of data visualisation. Line charts may be used to show changes over time,
while bar charts are suitable for comparing categories. Maps can present geographical
distributions, and scatter plots may reveal relationships between variables. Selecting
the appropriate method makes information easier to understand and supports decisions
with clearer evidence.
