# JavaScript **(JS)**

**JavaScript**, commonly abbreviated as JS, is a popular programming language used
to add interaction and dynamic behaviour to web pages. HTML is used to create the
structure and content of a page, CSS defines the visual design and styling of that
content, and JavaScript manages how the page responds to user interactions. For 
example, opening a menu when a button is clicked, validating form fields, running
product filters, triggering animations or updating content without refreshing the
page can all be done with JavaScript.

JavaScript was first developed in 1995 for web browsers. Today, it has become one
of the core technologies behind modern websites, responsive interfaces, web applications
and many digital products. Although it was initially used mostly as a language running
inside browsers, it can now also be used on the server side through runtime environments
such as Node.js. For this reason, JavaScript is important not only for simple web
animations but also for complex web applications, API services, real-time applications
and modern frontend development.

One of the most important uses of JavaScript is making web pages more interactive.
A static HTML page can display content to users, but JavaScript allows that page
to respond to user behaviour. For example, when a user selects a price filter on
an e-commerce website, the product list can change; when a product is added to the
cart, the total amount can be updated; or when a required field is left empty in
a form, a warning can be shown. These are typical examples of JavaScript usage.

JavaScript has become a widely supported web standard that works across different
browsers. Modern browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge support JavaScript.
This allows developers to create dynamic web experiences that can reach a very large
user base. However, browser compatibility, performance and security should still
be managed carefully. Especially complex JavaScript structures can affect page speed,
user experience and SEO performance.

It is important to understand the difference between HTML, CSS and JavaScript correctly.**
HTML** stands for HyperText Markup Language and is not a programming language, but
a markup language. Headings, paragraphs, links, images, lists and forms on a web
page are structured with HTML. For example, `<p>` is used for paragraphs, `<img>`
for images and `<a>` for links. HTML creates the basic skeleton of a web page.

**CSS** stands for Cascading Style Sheets and defines how the structures created
with HTML will look. Colours, fonts, spacing, alignment, backgrounds, borders, responsive
layouts and some animations are defined with CSS. CSS allows the same design rules
to be applied consistently across many pages. This structure strengthens the visual
consistency of a website and the design language presented to users.

JavaScript adds behaviour to the page created with HTML and CSS. It can make changes
on the page based on user actions such as clicking, scrolling, typing, selecting
or submitting a form. JavaScript can also fetch data from APIs, update the user 
interface, perform validation checks and change content without refreshing the page.
These features help modern web applications work faster and more smoothly.

Learning JavaScript can be accessible for many people, but this does not mean it
is always a simple language. Writing basic interactions may seem easy, but large-
scale applications require more expertise in code structure, performance, asynchronous
operations, security, error handling and framework usage. Tools such as React, Vue,
Angular and Next.js are widely used in the JavaScript ecosystem and help developers
manage larger projects.

To explain a website through a building analogy, HTML creates the structure, walls
and rooms of the building. CSS defines the colours, decoration, flooring and visual
layout. JavaScript manages functional behaviours such as doors opening automatically,
lights turning on, elevators responding or security systems being activated. In 
summary, **JavaScript** is one of the core technologies that transforms web pages
from static content into dynamic experiences that can interact with users.
