# Page View

**Page view** is a web analytics metric that refers to a web page being viewed by
a user. When a user opens any page on a website, a page view is usually recorded.
If the same user reloads the same page or visits it again later, another page view
may be counted. For this reason, page views are different from users; one user can
view multiple pages or open the same page more than once.

The page view metric is used to understand how often website content is viewed.
For blog posts, category pages, product detail pages, news articles or corporate
pages, page view data helps identify which pages attract more attention. However,
this metric does not show user satisfaction or success on its own. A high number
of views may be a positive signal, but what users do on the page, how long they
stay and whether they convert should also be evaluated.

In analytics tools such as Google Analytics 4, page view data is usually tracked
through the `page_view` event. This data can be used to understand which pages are
visited, how users navigate the website and which content receives more traffic.
However, page views should not be confused with users, sessions or engagement metrics.
A user refers to the person visiting the site, a session refers to a specific visit
period and a page view refers to the number of pages viewed.

A high number of page views can be a positive indicator in some cases. For media,
blog, news and content websites, more page views can increase ad impressions. For
e-commerce websites, more views on product and category pages may indicate user
interest and activity within the purchase journey. However, unnecessary page reloads,
complex navigation or user flows that force extra clicks can also increase page
views. Therefore, the metric should always be interpreted in context.

The SEO impact of page views should not be evaluated as direct or standalone. Increasing
page views alone is not enough to achieve better search performance. Content quality,
search intent alignment, technical SEO, page speed, mobile compatibility, internal
linking and user experience all matter together. If high page views are supported
by strong content and healthy user behaviour, they can be interpreted as a valuable
performance signal.

To increase page views, users should be encouraged to discover more content naturally
within the website. Clear menus, strong internal links, related content recommendations,
readable text and user-focused page designs can help with this. Linking to similar
articles in blog posts, showing related products on e-commerce websites or making
category pages easier to understand can be useful. The goal should not be to force
unnecessary clicks, but to help users reach relevant content more easily.

User experience is an important factor that affects page view performance. A clear
design, fast-loading pages, well-structured categories, an easy cart process and
visible return and exchange information help users navigate the website more comfortably.
On e-commerce websites, properly working filters, clear product details and a smooth
checkout flow can positively influence browsing behaviour. This structure can improve
both user satisfaction and conversion potential.

When analysing page view data, looking only at total views is not enough. Metrics
such as views, users, sessions, engagement rate, average engagement time, conversion
rate and revenue should be evaluated together. This makes it easier to understand
which pages only generate traffic and which pages actually create value. Properly
analysed **page view** data provides an important source for content strategy, UX
improvements, ad revenue and conversion optimisation.
