# Pay Per Click **(PPC)**

**Pay Per Click**, commonly abbreviated as PPC, is a digital advertising model in
which advertisers pay when users click on their ads. In this model, advertisers
are not charged simply because the ad is displayed. PPC ads can be used on Google
Ads, Meta ads, LinkedIn Ads, display ad networks and other digital platforms. The
main goal is to direct users who are more likely to be interested in a product or
service to a website, landing page, app or conversion point.

In PPC advertising, cost is generated according to the number of clicks the ad receives.
However, a click does not necessarily mean that the user stayed on the landing page
or completed a conversion. Some users may leave before the page fully loads, click
by mistake or fail to take the expected action. For this reason, PPC performance
should be evaluated not only through click volume but also through post-click behaviour
and conversions.

PPC and **CPC** are closely related, but they are not the same concept. PPC refers
to the advertising model in which the advertiser pays per click. CPC, or Cost Per
Click, is the metric that shows the average cost paid for each click. For example,
if a campaign spends 1,000 TL and receives 500 clicks, the average CPC is 2 TL.

Click costs in PPC campaigns are not always fixed. In auction-based systems such
as Google Ads, cost can vary depending on bids, competition, ad quality, landing
page experience, expected click-through rate and user search intent. The number
of brands advertising in the same sector and their campaign budgets can also affect
costs. For this reason, successful PPC campaigns depend not only on high budgets
but also on accurate targeting and strong ad quality.

PPC ads can be shown based on users’ search behaviour, interests, demographics or
previous interactions. For example, in Google Ads search campaigns, a user searching
for “electric kitchen appliances”, “toaster” or “blender” may see relevant ads.
On social media platforms, users’ interests, followed pages and previous engagements
may influence ad delivery. Seeing ads on Instagram for products similar to those
previously viewed may therefore be related to targeting and remarketing strategies
as well as PPC.

The success of PPC campaigns should not be measured only by the number of clicks.
Click-through rate, conversion rate, cost per conversion, return on ad spend, lead
quality and sales revenue should be evaluated together. Ad copy, keyword selection,
audience targeting, bidding strategy and landing page experience should be optimised
regularly. A well-managed **PPC strategy** helps brands reach more relevant users,
increase website traffic and use advertising budgets in a more measurable way.
