# Keyword Density Checker

Loading Keyword Density Checker…

 1

## Paste your content

Keyword density is how often a term appears relative to total words. Too low and
the topic is unclear; too high and it reads as spam, both hurt rankings.

 2

## Review the top terms

The tool counts one-, two- and three-word phrases and ranks them by frequency, so
you can see what your page is really about. Analysis runs in your browser.

## What Is a Keyword Density Checker?

A Keyword Density Checker analyses how frequently particular words and phrases appear
within a piece of content. It calculates their occurrence in relation to the total
number of words and ranks the most frequently used terms, making the main themes
and repetition patterns easier to identify.

Keyword density can be expressed as a percentage. If a term appears 10 times in
a 1,000-word article, its keyword density is 1%. However, this percentage should
be treated as a content analysis metric rather than a target that must be reached.

Modern SEO does not depend on repeating an exact keyword a predetermined number
of times. Google recommends writing naturally for readers and warns that excessive
repetition can make content tiring to read and may be considered keyword stuffing.

## How to Check Keyword Density

Paste the content you want to analyse into the tool. It counts the words in the
text and identifies the most frequently repeated one-, two-, and three-word phrases.
The results are then ranked by frequency, allowing you to see which terms dominate
the content.

Single-word analysis highlights frequently used individual terms. Two-word and three-
word phrase analysis provides more context by revealing repeated expressions such
as “digital marketing agency,” “keyword density checker,” or “content optimisation
strategy.”

Reviewing phrases rather than individual words alone is important because isolated
terms can be misleading. Common words may appear frequently without representing
the actual subject, while a repeated multi-word phrase may provide a clearer indication
of the page’s primary focus.

## How Is Keyword Density Calculated?

Keyword density is generally calculated by dividing the number of times a word or
phrase appears by the total number of words and multiplying the result by 100.

For example, if a target phrase appears 6 times in a 600-word article, its density
is 1%. When analysing multi-word phrases, tools may count each complete phrase occurrence
rather than every individual word contained within it.

The result can help compare different terms within the same document. It should
not be interpreted as a universal SEO score because content types, topics, search
intent, terminology, and natural language patterns vary significantly between pages.

A technical product description may naturally repeat the product name more often
than an editorial article. Similarly, specialised content may need to use an important
industry term repeatedly because replacing it with unrelated alternatives would
reduce clarity.

## Is There an Ideal Keyword Density?

There is no universal keyword density percentage that guarantees higher rankings.
Google’s SEO guidance does not prescribe a minimum or maximum percentage for target
terms. Instead, it recommends creating readable, useful, people-first content and
avoiding excessive repetition.

For this reason, a Keyword Density Checker should be used as a diagnostic tool rather
than an optimisation formula. The results can reveal whether an important topic
is barely mentioned, whether one expression is repeated unnaturally, or whether
several sections use the same wording too frequently.

The correct level depends on context. A keyword should appear wherever it helps
explain the subject accurately, but it should not be inserted into sentences where
it makes the text repetitive or unnatural.

Search engines can also understand relationships between different words and queries.
Google advises content creators to consider the terms readers may use while noting
that its language-matching systems can connect pages with relevant searches even
when every possible keyword variation is not used explicitly.

## How to Interpret the Results

Begin by reviewing whether the most frequent phrases accurately represent the intended
topic. If unrelated or generic terms dominate the results, the content may need
clearer terminology, stronger topical organisation, or more precise explanations.

Next, look for unusual repetition. A target keyword appearing in almost every sentence
can interrupt the reading experience and make the copy sound automated. Repeating
close variations solely to influence rankings can also fall within keyword stuffing
practices.

Low frequency does not automatically indicate a problem. The page may explain the
topic naturally through related concepts, examples, entities, synonyms, and supporting
terminology. Instead of increasing the percentage mechanically, evaluate whether
a reader can clearly understand the subject and whether the content adequately answers
the intended search query.

One-, two-, and three-word phrase reports can also expose duplicated sentence structures,
overused calls to action, repeated brand wording, and unnecessary filler expressions.
The tool can therefore support general editing and readability reviews in addition
to SEO analysis.

## Using Keyword Density in Content Optimisation

Keyword density analysis is most useful during the review stage. After completing
a draft, analyse the text and check whether the leading terms align with the page’s
main subject and search intent.

Use the findings to remove unnatural repetition, clarify vague sections, and improve
the variety of supporting terminology. Do not replace clear industry terms with
awkward synonyms simply to lower a percentage. Accuracy and readability should remain
the priority.

The report should also be reviewed alongside other content signals. Headings, page
titles, internal links, topical coverage, originality, usefulness, and the relationship
between the page and the user’s query cannot be assessed through keyword density
alone.

Google states that compelling, reliable, well-organised, and people-first content
is likely to influence search visibility more than attempts to follow a mechanical
keyword formula.

## Private Analysis in Your Browser

The Keyword Density Checker performs the analysis locally in your browser. The content
you paste into the input field is not uploaded to a remote server or shared with
a third party.

Local processing makes the tool suitable for reviewing unpublished articles, client
content, landing page drafts, internal documents, product descriptions, and other
materials that should remain on your device. Once the analysis is complete, you
can use the ranked terms to refine the content in your preferred editing environment.
