What Is a CTR Calculator?
A CTR Calculator determines the percentage of impressions that resulted in a click. Click-through rate, commonly abbreviated as CTR, shows how often users click an advertisement, search result, product listing or link after seeing it.
Google defines CTR as the number of clicks divided by the number of impressions. The metric can help evaluate the performance of advertisements, keywords and free product listings.
How Is CTR Calculated?
The standard formula is:
CTR = Clicks ÷ Impressions × 100
For example, if an advertisement receives 50 clicks from 2,000 impressions, its CTR is 2.5%.
Enter the total number of clicks and impressions into the calculator. The tool divides clicks by impressions and immediately displays the result as a percentage. All calculations take place locally in the browser.
Clicks and impressions must represent the same campaign, page, keyword, date range and reporting platform. Combining figures from different scopes can produce an inaccurate result.
Why Is Click-Through Rate Important?
CTR indicates whether a title, advertisement, search snippet or creative is effective at attracting attention and encouraging users to click. Google Ads notes that CTR can help identify which ads, listings and keywords are performing successfully and which may require improvement.
CTR is also relevant to organic search performance. Google Search Console reports clicks, impressions, average CTR and average position, allowing website owners to compare search performance across pages and queries. High-impression queries with low CTR may present opportunities to improve page titles and descriptions.
What Is a Good CTR?
There is no universal CTR benchmark. Expected performance varies according to the channel, industry, campaign type, keyword intent, position, audience and device. Google also states that a good CTR is relative to what is being advertised and the network on which it appears.
CTR should not be evaluated alone. A high rate may generate traffic without producing qualified leads, sales or revenue. Review it together with conversion rate, cost per click, conversion volume and ROAS to understand whether clicks are contributing to business results.
The CTR Calculator provides a quick baseline for SEO, paid media and content optimisation. Use it to compare campaigns, pages, keywords and creatives that have been measured under equivalent conditions.
